The Transportation Learning Center, a non-profit organization, is seeking a select group of instructional designers to work as independent contractors on a part-time basis on a number of technical instructional design curriculum development projects. The Instructional Designers will facilitate Subject Matter Expert (SME) meetings, and help prepare comprehensive job task analyses to assess training needs for elevator-escalator maintainers, as well as other skilled transit maintenance occupations utilizing labor-management teams.
The Transportation Learning Center (the Center), founded in 2001, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing public transit and other transportation sectors at the national level and within communities. To accomplish this mission, the Center builds partnerships between labor and management that improve organizational capacity and expand worker skills and career opportunities.
This consulting engagement will require the instructional designer to work on an occasional basis at on-site SME meetings, usually lasting up to 3 days. Additional work may include pre and post SME meeting design functions to assist in the curriculum development process. The Instructional Designer will be asked to:
� Facilitate the process of developing curriculum working with SME teams, consultants and associated Center team members.
� Perform necessary analysis and evaluation functions in support of curriculum development and reporting requirements as requested by the Center�s ISD team.
� Provide information and support for grant reporting.
The number of work hours available will vary as the workload increases through the life of a project.
Qualifications
Required:
� Graduate Degree or Graduate Certificate in Instructional Systems Development (or in process)
� Minimum of 3 years experience as an instructional designer
� Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
� Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
� Ability to work independently and multi-task
Preferred:
� Experience as an Instructional Designer with responsibility for coordinating the work of other designers, SMEs and consultants
� Portfolio of instructional design projects
� Demonstrated experience in electro-mechanical technical, transit, safety, and/or elevator/escalator maintenance training.
� Experience in developing training materials in coordination with other instructional designers, editors and graphic designers.
� Experience working in a labor-management partnership environment
� Demonstrated working knowledge in additional software programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and CAD
� Ability to work in collaborative multi-cultural setting.
