Cost of Turnover Tool: Experiences from the Field

Project Associate, Karitsa Holdzkom, spoke with the Aspen Institute about how their tool, the Cost of Turnover, has been used to illustrate the return on investment of programs like apprenticeship that increase employee retention at transit agencies. “Transit agency staff often struggle to advocate to higher-level management for the upfront funding needed to start an apprenticeship program. Operations managers are juggling a lot, and you don’t see the benefits of an apprenticeship program while you’re developing it and hiring someone to run it. The payoff comes later.”
