Traction Power Consortium Virtual Meeting

Posted September 2020

Consortium members spent time on September 16 virtually catching up with each other and being updated with the progress of coursework development. Fourteen individuals from member agencies DART, GCRTA, Metro Transit, SacRT, SEPTA, Sound Transit/Tacoma Link, and VTA were in attendance. There was lively discussion on traction power control systems and substations and SMEs offered invaluable guidance on how best to train traction power maintainers. “Open interaction, universal sharing, the one-on-one exchange, the networking and the group debate or discussions are vital cogs in the machinery and the heartbeat of what we are coming together for,” remarked Russell Pompa, Traction Power Maintainer at DART and member of ATU Local 1338 in Dallas, Texas.

The Traction Power team went on to shape the order of development of the fifteen courses. Courses 100 and 101 are ready for members to download here www.transittraining.net/courseware/rail/category/traction-power-training-consortium
