Overview

International Transportation Learning Center (ITLC), a leader in workforce development for frontline workers in public transportation, and the operator of the Federal Transit Administration’s Transit Workforce Center (TWC), seeks a detail-oriented Accounting Associate with experience in human resources related work as well. This individual will work closely with the Director of Finance to manage the organization’s financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.  

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Track and manage day-to-day expenses, adhering to budgetary guidelines and organizational policies, with a focus on federal grant and cooperative agreement requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports, statements, and summaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funding source reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation to demonstrate adherence to federal regulations and internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies, maintaining transparency in financial transactions.
  • Manage procurement processes, ensuring compliance with procurement guidelines outlined in federal grants and cooperative agreements and internal policies and procedures
  • Manage vendor relationships, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and reconciling statements.
  • Assist with processing of payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Utilize and manage financial software and systems to streamline accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with leadership and program/project teams to contribute to strategic decision-making based on accurate financial data.
  • Initiate a consultative and collaborative recruitment process for new positions (including internships) and candidates, including drafting job postings, reviewing job applications, screening candidates, conducting background checks, coordinating interviews, and ensuring job postings reach out to a broad and diverse audience.
  • Develop and coordinate onboarding plans for new employees after review and consultation with supervisors and other relevant content staff.
  • Analyze actual or potential changes in employee benefit plans to inform organizational decision making.
  • Help develop materials that ensure staff is fully informed about benefits, and provide guidance in any choices staff may need to make.
  • Coordinate employee career development and internal training effort.
  • Review the employee Policies & Procedures manual, and keep it updated.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related fields. 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial planning and management and human resources
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or similar accounting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with remote and hybrid work arrangements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and/or Uniform Guidance Part 200—uniform administrative requirements, cost principles, and audit requirements for federal awards.

Start Date: Immediate placement available. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Type of Employment: Full time employment. Hybrid work arrangement is possible.
