Center Deputy Director Delivers NTI Session on Frontline Workforce Development

On December 13, 2019, Center Deputy Director Xinge Wang led a class of 24 senior-level public transit maintenance leaders through an interactive presentation and dis cussion on the topic -  Maintaining the Human Infrastructure: Workforce Development on Transit’s Front Line. Participants explored the transit maintenance workforce characteristics along with current and future skills needs, and learned about national, regional and local solutions for maintenance workforce development.

This session was delivered as part of the National Transit Institute (NTI)‘s
Maintenance Leadership Workshop. Since 2015 the workshop has been delivered to more than 150 senior transit maintenance professionals from organizations across the country. The workshop was created in response to an identified industry need supported through a survey of more than 250 transit professionals. The curriculum was shaped by an advisory board comprised of transit General Managers, maintenance managers, and representatives of both the public and private sectors. The workshop was developed by NTI in partnership with GannonConsult and supported by the Federal Transit Administration.
