Center’s John Schiavone to Present at APTA Mobility Conference on ZEB Training

Posted March 2021

As part of APTA’s Mobility Conference, John Schiavone will be giving a presentation during a session titled Best Practices in Zero Emission Bus Training. John will be describing how to prepare technicians to work on battery electric buses and why pooling resources across the industry will make this process more efficient. The session will take place on March 18, at 1:45 p.m. ET. A full description of the session is below.

The transit workforce of the future will need to understand how to operate and maintain a new technology in zero emission buses. For many bus agencies, existing knowledge around high voltage maintenance practices, “refueling” using charging infrastructure, and troubleshooting electric drive systems is new and unfamiliar. Join this session to learn from organizations with training programs intended to help transit agencies who don’t want to “reinvent the wheel” around zero emission bus training.

Moderator:  Lauren Skiver, CEO/General Manager, SunLine Transit Agency

Panelists:

Kirt Conrad, Executive Director/CEO, Stark Area Regional Transit Authority
Lauren Skiver, CEO/General Manager, SunLine Transit Agency
  John Schiavone, Transportation Learning Center
Tom Apalenek, Sr., Principal Systems Engineer, BAE Systems
