In Memory of Michael Rudometkin

Posted June 2021

It was with great sadness that we learned that our colleague and friend, Michael Rudometkin, was a victim in last week’s shooting at VTA. Michael was an Overhead Line Worker and ATU Local 265 member. He joined the Rail Car Consortium at our Sacramento meeting in 2019 and was very involved since that point. He was also very active in the Center’s Traction Power Consortium and would often join the online meetings right after his night shift ended at 9 AM Pacific Time. Michael was kind, dedicated and always eager to help in any way he could.

Michael is survived by his wife, Gloria, and his parents, Rose and Gary. An article on Michael and the impact he had on those around him can be found here.

Transportation Learning Center staff send our deepest condolences to all of the victims’ families, friends and VTA colleagues, as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy.

Please join us in making donations to the victims of May 26:  ATU’s Disaster Relief Fund  and San Jose’s Working Partnerships USA Union Community Resources Program . You can also donate to the Michael Rudometkin Family Relief Fund . We appreciate in advance your contribution.
