ITLC/TWC joined the ATU for its General Convention on September 19-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada, sharing with their members and leadership information about its resources and exchanging ideas. Executive Director Jack Clark, Senior Communications Specialist David Stephen, and Program Manager for Technical Training James Hall attended the week-long event. Speakers at the convention included Pres. Joe Biden (by video) and Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. The convention capped off with the election of the ATU International President, International Executive Vice President, International Secretary-Treasurer, and International Vice Presidents. While there, Jack and David joined ATU Director of Apprenticeship and Workforce Development Jamaine and a delegation of ATU members for a tour of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas and learned about how the Academy works to reduce poverty, eliminate unemployment with union jobs and provide vocational and job-readiness training to youth, adults, and displaced workers in 15 different programs in hospitality work, digital and employability skills, and language instruction. Learn more about the Culinary Academy by visiting here.
