Join the Center at the APTA Rail Conference

On Tuesday June 4, 2013 the Center will be hosting a session at the APTA rail conference on Standards-Based Training Partnerships for Frontline Employees.  The session will highlight its efforts in national training consortia for transit’s rail technicians who maintain signals and elevators and escalators, with pending efforts for rail vehicle and traction power technicians. Building on the jointly developed national training standards adopted by APTA in 2010, these efforts are producing high-quality training materials for classroom and on-the-job learning, as well as frameworks for new apprenticeships and mentoring.  This work will be presented by management and frontline workers at participating locations.  Ultimately, the components of these systems will enable public transportation organizations to attain high performance maintenance and operations (see chart below).
