Posted April 2020

On April 20, 2020, the Center organized a webinar to kick off Phase III of the Rail Car Consortium. Attendance was great with representation from 13 out of the 18 member agencies. Consortium members discussed current training, service and maintenance challenges due to the impact of Covid-19. Center Deputy Director, Xinge Wang and Instructional Designer, Kristen Ribaudo talked about the direction of Phase III work. Initial Phase III activities include the development of a new course, Communications and Networking and the in-depth review process of existing courses, beginning with RV100: Introduction and Overview to Rail Vehicle Systems. The Center will continue to deliver the highly successful consortium-wide Train-the-Trainer sessions. Phase III work will also include exploring the idea of adding eLearning digital assets to supplement existing courseware. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the in-person meeting in Cleveland, OH has been postponed.
