Career Pathways/Career Ladders Round Table Conference - September 17, 2014 in Silver Spring Maryland

The Transportation Learning Center’s planning for the September 17 Career Pathways/Career Ladders Roundtable Conference is entering its final stages, and the meeting is almost filled to capacity.  Instead of the usual conference format of panel presentations and questions to the panel, the Roundtable Conference will offer sessions focusing on the following topics:

• Creating and Building on Career Ladders and Pathways in Transit:  An Examination of Need, Opportunities and Frameworks
• Outreach and Engagement: Effective Practices and Stakeholder Buy-In
• Mentoring for Pathways and Ladders
• The Critical Role of Apprenticeship and Rigorous Career Ladder Training
• Education Programs as Stakeholders in the Pathways and Ladders System
• Stakeholder Engagement: Opportunities and Challenges

Center Report on Bus Operator Health and Retention Published by TRB

Extensive research undertaken by the Transportation Learning Center in the past two years has led to the official publication of TCRP Report 169: Developing Best-Practice Guidelines for Improving Bus Operator Health and Retention. This combined report and practice manual address health and safety issues common throughout the transit industry, and describes approaches that transit organizations in the United States and Canada have taken to address health problems faced by transit employees.
