Join the Center at the NTI Transit Trainers’ Workshop for Discussions on Standards-based Apprentices

The Transportation Learning Center will host 90-minute sessions on Standards-based Training and Apprenticeship for Frontline Technicians at the 2004 National Transit Institute (NTI) Transit Trainers’ Workshop in Long Beach, CA.  During this session (starting at 10:45am on March 31), local transit trainers will benefit greatly from an introduction of new national resources for systems of training and apprenticeship, with perspectives of peer trainers who have participated in the national program development and local implementation.

Center Recognized by DOL as an Industry Champion for Transportation

The Transportation Learning Center has recently been recognized as an industry champion by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Employment & Training Administration (ETA) for its contribution in developing updates to the industry competency model of Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. This initiative is being carried out by ETA in collaboration with the Department of Transportation.

Center to Present on the Importance of Training at the Positive Train Control World Congress

Join the Center at the PTC World Congress in Orlando, FL April 15-17, 2014 for a presentation on what the Center is doing to implement stronger training around positive train control.  Senior Associate, Mark Dysart will be presenting a case study at 11am on Thursday April 17th entitled Creating Industry And Nationwide Training Standards to Meet Technology Advancements.

Rail Vehicle Technician Qualification System Approved by TCRP Panel

The Transportation Research Board’s Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) will soon be publishing an important new report,  An Industry-Wide System of Qualification for Transit Rail Car Technicians - Building for Success.  The report presents the findings of a five-year labor-management TCRP project designed to help the industry meet the challenge of qualifying a new generation of Rail Car Technicians.
